Since a Rick Grimes-centered The Walking Dead project is on the cards, an Andrew Lincoln cameo in season 11's final chapter to set up a future movie trilogy isn't that far-fetched a prediction. Chief content officer for The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple, did shed some light on the overall direction of the franchise which reveals a few things about season 11 part 3. Story details are scarce, but 11B left the TWD universe in a precarious situation – Hilltop, Alexandria, The Commonwealth no community in the undead apocalypse is safe. AMC confirmed in 2020 that season 11's three chapters would release over the course of two years. If it follows AMC's usual Walking Dead release schedule (pandemic delays aside), it could air in October 2022.
Filming for season 11 part 3 wrapped in March, so it's likely still in production.
11C, the final chapter of both season 11 and the main The Walking Dead show, doesn't have a release date yet. Grimes is a sheriffs deputy who awakens from a month-long coma in the midst of a zombie apocalypse caused by an unknown pathogen.

The preview for the rest of this season hinted that the zombies were evolving - a good sign, and maybe a very meta promise that this nine-year-old series recognizes the necessity of change.The Walking Dead season 11 was split into three parts, and its final chapter is coming soon. 11A aired between October and August 2021, with the second part screened in February 2022 through to April the same year. (In my head I’m picturing, well, Andrew Lincoln, but Andrew Lincoln the playful British jokester who popped up occasionally on Talking Dead.) Maybe some dashing Robin Hood-ish maniac who’d ask serious questions about this neo-Spartan killocracy Rick was building. I think that, around this point, Walking Dead needed to come up with an antagonist morally ambiguous enough to suggest Rick might have gone truly off the reservation.

Then Rick pitched his friendfamily as, basically, a righteous deathsquad-for-hire. Zombie slayer Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) will return to The Walking Dead, but in a movie that will debut in theaters instead of AMCs TV network. He walked into a lovely community, told all the nice folks they were soft, and seemed to will a zombie attack into existence. And to be frank, Rick became a bit of a pill. It was an unhealthy appeal: Everything he did was justified, so it wasn’t even like the old days watching The Sopranos, when you had to feel a guilt twinge about enjoying some protagonist’s bad behavior. You got the vibe that you were meant to feel that his suffering sanctified him. But he was the one everyone looked to for answers (The Walking Dead, Issue 76). Not long after The Big Speech, though, something in the show’s treatment of Rick started to get obnoxious. Rick is eventually reunited with his wife, Lori, and young son, Carl.
